Duties: This position is accountable for performance of various secretarial and designated administrative duties using knowledge of bank practices, policies, and organization as related to the officer’s area of responsibility.
 
The administrative assistant is primarily responsible for performing the following duties confidentially with considerable personal tact, integrity, judgment and initiative.
 
 
  1. Receives cash and checks for deposit, verifies amounts and looks for check endorsements. Examines cash carefully to guard against acceptance of counterfeit bills.
  2. Cashes checks for customers after verifying identification and checking account balances in accordance with bank policy.
  3. Enters transactions into computer and issues customer receipts.
  4. Counts cash balance at beginning of shift and balances cash and checks against computer records at end of shift.
  5. Prepares certified checks, cashier checks, savings bonds and travelers’ checks as requested.
  6. Explains bank services and charges to customers.
  7. Observes suspicious behavior and reports any such activity to head teller and/or security personnel as appropriate. In the event of a robbery, remains calm and follows bank procedures to safeguard customers and staff. 
 
Other responsibilities may include:
 
  1. Typing and preparing letters, memos, reports, etc. from oral or written instruction. Answer telephone; screen calls; take messages: Prepare replies to routine inquiries. Establish and maintain files of reports, correspondence, etc. 
  2. Process loan documents.
  3. Consult with customers on their specific needs. Respond to customer inquiries. Cross-sell bank services. Research customer problems and concerns. Call on existing and potential customers to promote business.
  4. Maintain consumer and small business loan portfolio.
           
 
Required Skills:Good customer service, communication, organizational and math skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel needed. The incumbent is required to work directly with the officer’s customers and assist in dealing not only with his/her respective division but other departments in the bank as well. This position is also preferred to have experience in Customer Service, Commercial Lending, Consumer Lending and Legal Documentation. Must be able to handle fast paced environment and exercise discretion and good judgment.

Skills Needed:
 
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field as deemed necessary by department management is required. 
 
Three to five years of financial audit experience, preferably in public accounting. Sarbanes Oxley and Financial Services experience is preferred.
 
Maintains approved certification such as CIA, CPA, CISA, or advanced degree (e.g. MBA) is preferred.    Candidate should be pursuing approved certification in the absence of one of the foregoing.
